A Letter From Ricki

Different individuals reach my page for varying reasons. I have created a network of ventures where I help people to find resources that support their needs in different areas of their lives.Yet overall: I support interdependent wellness. I contribute to communities and tribes that form to support the holistic wellness of the whole as well as those within.I keep my expenses low which allows me to focus on manifesting resources instead of focusing on money. While living nomadically, I take the opportunity to support local communities, learn trades, share gifts, and fellowship.

As I deepen my ancestral practices and rituals, I use these practices to support families who want to increase their preventative, herbal, and natural wellness resources.I find that when I develop a routine that becomes dear to me and familiar, even when I step away from it for a while, I can re-access it when I need to. I help families, mothers, and caretakers develop systems and routines that offer themselves and their families peace.

Traditional Rootwork

A "mother's helper" has traditionally been called to assist mothers with the household load to support the family. These days, this support can be held to any parent who is looking to extend their community.I become a part of your extended tribe by regularly carrying some of the household tasks. Some of these include:

  • Date Night

  • Running Errands

  • Organizing

  • Light Housekeeping

  • Pet Care

  • Babysitting/ Childcare Relief

  • Planning/ Strategy

  • Yoga and Meditation

  • Help with Selfcare Routine

Community Birth Services

Phase 1: Planning

  • Together we will discuss your resources, your family members, and communities you are apart of. It is my goal to help orchestrate support so that you don't feel you are recovering and taking care of baby without support.

  • Plan visits and support. How can we pre-schedule family, friends, or community members to support you? What type of support do you find helpful vs. invasive?

  • Let's discuss boundaries and space. How can we help you to advocate for your needs after baby arrives?

Phase 2: First 24

  • Do you have a birth plan? If so, we will review it and make note to support your transition home (if returning from another location) or the transition to recovery once midwife and/or birth support leave.

  • Birth is all about the unexpected! We will consider some of the variations of birth, and how we can plan for unexpected occurrences (early labor, prolonged labor, incelement weather, etc).

  • We will also plan for common postpartum tools and tips like pumping, breast or chest feeding, sterilizing bottles and equipment, pads/ underwear, pelvic recovery. This phase will be a combination of education and me helping to build you a kit of resources that will make this timeframe more comfortable for you and baby.

Phase 3: Postpartum

  • In person and virtual support to include: housekeeping, babysitting, running errands, delivering herbal remedies, arranging food trains, and more.

  • Can I still hire you if I already had my baby?

Of course! It is not unusual that I support postpartum families up to 18months after birth. The support looks different at different stages, so we will discuss your needs and make a plan based on that.

  • What types of births do you support?

If you are seeking me to be present for your birth see "questions about birth" below. If you are asking if I provide postpartum support for all birth types, the answer is yes. In our planning session, we will discuss your birth plan (or the actual events of your birth if scheduling afterward).

  • If I can't afford weekly postpartum visits, how can I get support?

My basic program includes extensive postpartum planning that doesn't rely on your ability to afford a postpartum doula, babysitter, or expensive food service plans to meet your needs in the first 3-6 months postpartum. Our first initiative is to use the resources that exist within your existing network strategically. I will help you tap into resources that you hadn't considered as well as creating at home postpartum care packages that will be used after birth.

  • I would like you to support my birth. What types of births do you support?

Phase 1: Meet the Family

  • We will virtually chat to be sure I am the right fit for you and your family. If we are in alignment, I will reserve your due date and share prenatal resources!

Phase 2: Prenatal Visits

  • We will meet 2-3 times before your expected birth window. I'll first learn more about you and your birth expectations, and then connect you with the education, movement, and resources you need before birth.

Phase 3: Labor Support

  • I will be on call and available to answer any questions you may have. I will be your labor partner from the start of your labor until the birth of your baby.

  • When appropriate, I will stay after a bit to help you and your support system transition into your new roles.

  • I would like you to support my birth. What types of births do you support?

For birth services, I typically work with families who plan to have their babies at home or in birthing centers. If you would like me to be a part of your birth journey, but you are having a hospital birth, feel free to schedule and I can find out if I am the right person to support you, or if I can help you to find the best birthworker.

Community Birth Services

You are pregnant and want help considering your options?

A low cost postpartum workbook that will help close the gap on getting food, resources, and care needed for the third trimester and postpartum. This is perfect for solo-parents, first-time parents, those who are already postpartum and need help, finding it difficult to obtain postpartum services or benefits.

Ricki and other community birthworkers host events (virtual and in person) in small groups with the community to gift needed items, share education, and connect parents with community resources.

Feeling overwhelmed with all of the planning? Do I need a baby shower? If so, what should I put on my list? Doula? Postpartum doula? I am happy to help you plan.

Let's discuss your birth needs.

Let's plan your post-labor support.

"When seeking to transition from one entire industry to another, I found a layer of complication that I wasn’t prepared for... I sought out guidance from Ricki as to what my next steps should be... Ricki was able to not only listen to my work history and my assessment of my own abilities, but she also asked me tough questions... I feel I not only gained a greater sense of direction for my continued journey into tech, but I feel I have a greater appreciation for what I can bring to the space... Her advice is spot on, not only because she knows the space well, but because she is invested in trying to learn what makes her clients flourish!"
